There are a few things you can do to inspect your roof for potential damage.

Using a pair of binoculars, stand outside your home and take a look at the top of your roof. Do you notice anything out of the ordinary? Keep an eye out for damaged shingles, rotting wood, or other signs of roof decay. You may also want to check for any sign of animal activity, as critters such as birds, squirrels, and raccoons often like to build their nests on rooftops and may involuntarily cause damage.

Inside the home, check the top floor of your house or attic to see if any water is leaking inside. If so, you’re likely dealing with a roof leak.
